All, I will be (almost certainly - hoping for confirmation over the next few weeks!) spending a short seaon in the Alps. It needs to be in France, preferable close to Geneva airport (PDS or Chamonix); but all reasonable ski areas considered!

Any hints, tips and experiences of doing a ski season would be greatly appreciated.

In the meantime, a wanted ad of sorts...

I am after a room for the short season

- single or double, but for myself - not shared.
- in an apartment or shared chalet, or a studio/1 bedroom flat on its own. I think I would prefer the former is at all possible.
- reliable wi-fi essential, as I will need to do some work
- cooking facilities essential (unless catered, and not too pricey!)
- parking essential
- town centre NOT essential, as I will have a 4x4 with me. Don't mind living a few kilometres out of resort if necessary.

This is not a working season, so not looking for accommodation as part of a job; especially as weekends will need to be free, when the other half joins me. However, I am more than happy to contribute to shared cooking/chores/errands etc, e.g. in a shared house or apartment.

Any offers, contacts, helps or tips would be appreciated.

Am keeping fingers crossed that this all goes ahead!

Mods - please could you sort out my fat-fingered typo in the thread title? Thank you!

Have you looked on airbnb. you can contact hosts to ask questions and explain situation before deciding if you want to book a room.

I'm also doing a season this year, based in Bourg and will be working so any top tips for things to take will be helpful!

Take less than you think you'll need.

Lots of good socks, a really good pair of proper snow boots, a couple of pairs of gloves.

The rest will depend on what work you're doing.

I haven't fully decided yet but think I'm going to base myself in La Tania this year.
