How long are you going for?

New York is IMO the greatest city in the world. It really depends on what floats your boat, but Ellis island is a historical must. Empire State is good fun, Central Park, Broadway show, ball game at the Yankee stadium, Rockefeller Centre at Christmas is good too, fifth av. has some beautiful festive decorations too, it's a lovely to walk in the early evening as dusk sets in.

You will have a great time, it is impossible not too - NYE will have the place humming too.

Ellis island might be shut, no?

Looks like they have sorted out a deal and are now trying to rush it through both the Senate and the House before the st hits the fan tomorrow, so I'd guess everything will be opening up from next week.

As I said on the first page, it's shut not because the can't pay people, it's shut because it's still damaged after hurricane sandy

Yep, still shut because of that. Statue was only opened July 4th. Awful lot of damage done to the piers and walk ways and a lot of records lost on Ellis.

Their tides high and low are not as great as ours and it would not take much to put that lot under water.

Was the Rockefeller Centre that those workmen are building in the famous picture of a lunchbreak on an RSJ in mid air? It looks roughly the same angle/location as the picture.

They exploit that at the Rockafella centre. Get your picture taken with that image backdrop sat on a girder.

They insist on taking everybody's picture on the beam. Try and refuse it. They will not let you. Security want a picture of every person that goes up.

We refused it on the second go, many also refused no problem? If they want a piccy of everyone going up then plonk a camera at the lifts?

I'm flying to Noo Yoik on Monday for work.
Sadly I won't have time to look for a Banksy stall. frown

What's to do in NYC on Monday night?
I've been in NYC many times before, but I don't fancy dinner with my boss as I'll be with her the rest of the week.....
I'm staying at the Novotel, Times Sq.

We just walked past it, got asked if we wanted a picture, said no, kept walking, no hassle.
