House Insurance

Not sure where to post this but im looking at taking an extended break around Europe for 6 months next year, does anyone know where you stand house insurance wise and if you need a specialised company, I have someone who will keep an eye on the property but no one will actually live there

Not 100% sure but I think it will be invalid as it is unoccupied.

Suggest you talk to your provider and ask them.

If its unoccupied for that long the insurance will be invalid.Its very very important to speak with your insurer to sort something out.May be they will accept some sort of arrangement with your "key holder/house sitter"??
I know of someone who went abroad for most of the winter.While he was away a pipe burst and the house was flooded. The insurance claim was rejected and he had a bill for £1000`s!!!

I have just taken out a policy on the house I get the keys to on Friday. The policy does not allow the home to be unoccupied more than 30 consecutive days. I was planning to hold off moving in until I have finished work on it but I found the premiums were over three times what I am paying. Don't expect it to be cheap and expect them to impose certain conditions, such as regular inspections by a keyholder.
