Krakow.
just did this, beautiful city, lots to see and do in and around the city with some cracking bars and restaraunts. very reasonable prices anywhere just off the lovely main market square, the biggest in europe.
also, 'if' its your sort of thing trips to the salt mines, and also auschwitz are easily sorted.
we did both trips on seperate days, salt mines is about 3 hours, and auschwitz pretty much a full day. auschwitz truly blew my mind, just staggering what went on there, a very, very moving experience.
there were 4 of us, flew friday morning 1st thing and returned monday evening. stayed in a good clean 3 star best western hotel just on the outskirts of the city, (approx a 5 quid cab ride into town.)
breakfast included at hotel, we also used 1 company that sorted our airport tranfers, aswell as our travel for both trips. great staff, all spoke english and very helpful and prompt, highly recomended. plus we payed abit extra, so we had our own private minibus for all travel, all new mercedes vito/sprinter type vans.
flights, hotel, and all transfers just about £260

Ryanair to Bergamo, don't go to Milan though stay in Bergamo. You can get on a bus right outside the airport and it takes you to the town centre in 10 mins. Good food and restaurants, good bars, stunning scenery from the old town and most important of all, stunning women.
I have been a few times and one of the best hotels is the Mecure, a short walk from the bus terminal.
Italys biggest shopping centre is across the road from the airport as well.
edit, northen italys

my friend booked the lot.
flights were easyjet from southend.
i think the trips/minibuses and tranfers were through discover poland, or similar, i'll text my friend to find out for sure.
trips and tranfers all done through, www.escape2poland.co.uk and they were very, very good.
hotel was a best western, 3 star, clean tidy, nowt fancy though.
next time, with the mrs, i'd go closer to town, and up a star or two
