No, none of those.
Clue- in the 70's a JAL747 from LHR to TYO had to refuel in this country
Canada? Or possibly Greenland?

Alaska, maybe Anchorage?

This is if we are in the Cold War era when they used to fly the other way round the world and not through Russia/USSR

Actually not sure that makes sense, you'd go south of USSR and, even if you did go west going via Alaska wouldn't be logical.

Iran seems more likely and it has plenty of mountains - the airport would be Tehran, used to be mispronounced as Marrybad.

ETA: Which means, I think, that I am agreeing with warp9 above

It is Alaska and we refuelled in Anchorage. The mountain is Mt McKinley.
They used to fly either way in the 70's/80's, Anchorage or Moscow and I did go both ways.

Your up Henry.

No idea! It was a complete guess. I think there is somewhere you can go polar bear spotting in Canada but I don't know where it is. Somewhere not *too* far from civilisation I wouldn't have thought. Somewhere around Hudson Bay maybe?

Keep up at the back hehe

re the Bear Tours there's one specific town that is bear central, IIRC. Is it called Livingstone or something akin to that?

I think it is on the west coast above Vancouver, some friends of mine did something like this a couple of years ago.

I thought the tours were done up in the NE above the top of Hudson Bay.
