Where was I? Vol 2
Discussion
Just moved to MK (well started work in July, moved in September).
All my friends and family joked how crap it was and, "Why would you want to live there?" was a common question.
Apart from the nightmare of centreMK, I really like it here.
I have an 8-mile commute to work on the bike with only a mile on road, good pubs, countryside, all the shops I could ever need, easy transport links... and lots of trees (everywhere!)

That's the one! England's greenest city, over 2 million trees - more per person than any other city in Europe - 170 woodlands, 78 public parks, 10 public gardens... one third inside the Peak District National Park.
Sheffield 2m trees, 550000 population. Milton Keynes 22m trees, 230000 population.
Interesting fact?
But Milton Keynes is 89sq km. So 20million would be 225,000 trees per sq km which is one tree in every 4 sq m. Now of course it is possible if every sq m of Milton Keynes is covered in fairly small trees, but since a lot isn't it really doesn't fly. (or my maths is wrong)

I think that is an urban myth, there are even reports from the BBC that it is 40 million trees in Milton Keynes.

It does cover a large area.
I'm out near Woburn, technically part of MK and there are huge woods out here which probably account for a large number of the 40 million I'dhave though.

89 sq km as opposed to 367 sq km in Sheffield in area
220,000 populations as opposed to 551,000 in Sheffield.
So roughly twice as dense a population. But Sheffield is big in terms of the area it covers that't not looking a whole lot like an city. There are, however, a hell of a lot of trees.
I'm not doing MK down, aside from my tendency to hate all the roundabouts and junctions, the more trees anywhere can only be better, but the city with the most trees in the world is Johannesburg with around 10 million of them - over 1,645 sq km. Given that 20 million in MK is a myth.

No particular love for MK, only just moved here, has good and bad points, and quite a few trees.
Not a patch on Yorkshire tbh.
Is it somewhere in Italy?
