I thought it was overlooking the sea, hence my reticence?

I don't remember there being any views to the open sea. I think it sits inland at the head of loch dunvegan.

Beautiful place to visit, we had 10 days of glorious sunshine on a tour of the west coast.

Still can't quite get my head around the angle it's taken from but I'll let it lie!

Where might this green be?

No idea where it is though, except that the rock looks limestone so maybe the Yorkshire Dales somewhere?

I'm obliged smile

Location's off, mind. Lime(stone) does feature, but perhaps in not quite the way you note.

Is that the top of a cliff face I can see middle top right - set around an old limestone quarry maybe?

I can think of one or two courses that are, but never played any.

It's a Scottish Golf Pitch, yes, but not one of the famous ones like Ibrox wink. This is the par 3 12th.

There is a quarry here, but it didn't quarry limestone when it operated.

So we are in Scotland with limestone? In which case that must narrow it down somewhat, does in mean southern Scotland, south of Edinburgh?

(With a quarry and a low quality golf course!)

(With a long-disused quarry and a low quality golf course!)par 3s can be challenging in the right circumstances
Enough to keep the chase alive?
ETA
Lime in the form of calcium, to be less obtuse
