Looks a bit like an Olympic reference so can I take a wild guess at Mexico City?

It wasn't planned as part of an olympic event but it was finished in time for an Olympic event. It's not Mexico City.

I've no idea where it is exactly without Googling, just peered closely at the advert text.

I've seen yellow-poled traffic lights in & around Rome, so that would be my bet.

I'll shut up now smile

Yes, it is Rome — but what's the name of the column?

I think a bit of a clue is called for. I'm stumped on this one.

It was commissioned by Mussolini but not finished until just before the Rome Olympics in 1960.

I'm going offline shortly, so if we don't have an answer back within the next few minutes can someone else post something & I'll get back to you after the weekend.

I know where/what this thing is, but only because I looked it up. Plus I don't want to win.

Yes, or rather, part of the EUR district anyway.

How many obelisks can there be in one place? Loads, it turns out.

I don't think naming an object is quite what is required for the 'Where was i' thread. I suggest to keep going over the weekend that Rome will have to suffice, it looks like the precise location would have to be googled anyway.
Propose if Trashbat has no pic, first to get one posted continues.

I had no idea about the obelisk, but the reference to the completed in 1960 thing pricked up my town planning nerd ears.

Colonial has it closer than me.

No pics from me, as I'm going on holiday - will let you guess where in a week or so...
