Yes Biscayne bay, Miami.
Anyone know the name?
Not to with John Deere but another equally famous company.

I reckon it's Deering's (IH) place, which I've heard of, but never seen or been to, nor do I know the name of it. Which doesn't help much.

Seems harsh. Surely even I would have got the name right if I'd googled it.

However - since you seem so interested. Following Kenty's clues, I remembered reading about William Deering, philanthropist and tractor man, retiring to Florida so thought it might be his place. Checked my facts on Wikipedia, which confirmed same, however it said he resided in Coconut Grove. I then went to Coconut Grove wikipedia page which showed that Key Biscayne is off Coconut Grove, so assumed I was on the right track as Biscayne had been mentioned. Then I posted.

Not sure why you'd accuse me of 'cheating' when I'm not even claiming a 'win' (such as it is...). If I wanted it that badly I'd have googled it, then posted with a claim of having been there for my summer hols/on business or something, it's not like you could disprove it?

Weird.

Woah partner, I wasn't accusing you of anything!

I was saying that I had Googled, and in response to your self-deprecatory post I was saying that actually your post was of more use than you were giving yourself credit for smile

We don't do that on this thread, we call our own fouls! This is an oasis of good humour in the cesspit that is Pistonheads hehe

Given we've blown the bloody doors off this mansion between us, with Kenty's permission, why don't you post one.

Thanks, but I don't think I can.

I think our IT gurus have recently changed security settings or somesuch, and I now can't even access photo hosting websites (I've never been able to upload images directly). I can't even see most of the posts, so it's very exciting when I do get to join in...

If I understand right, just using Google isn't actually cheating. Reverse Image Search tools, however, would be. https://www.google.com/search?tbs=sbi:AMhZZiubhG3w...

It's much preferred to use clues laid by/requested of the picture's OP, as Googling, even "straight" does make most pretty easy. What say others?

Well as you know it is villa Vizcaya and International harvester founder James Deering the owner.

My photo was by me but came up on a Google search with the right answer, a popular spot for a photo no doubt.
Most original pics don't do this and googling is no good.
Googling clues from the op should be allowed IMO but a reverse search on the pic - maybe not.

I think it is fine if you need some help to jog a memory. Let's say you know the place ("X"). Whilst you can't remember the name of "X", you remember it's just down the road from "Y". You google "Y" and look at the map to see what's around it - there is "X" and memory is jogged. All well and good.

Reverse google image search or, say, searching on "italianate villa florida industrialist" as those are the clues when you've never been there, seen it, heard of it, etc is too much.

Unless you want to guess where the Comms cabinet and server cabinet photo's are located in a datacentre somewhere in the UK I have nothing new so not me.
