Ah that big ol thing...damn...we blew up some bottles, literally. My fave was the 308 and the AR15. I got on very well with those. Liked most of them really.

What do you want from a hotel?

The Trump is good value for a place to stay and relax, but the food etc. is expensive. But you do have a kitchenette in the room with a fridge which is very useful if you never want to leave the room wink

The Four Seasons is away from the Strip too, which is obviously nice but expensive.

There is a large resort, Red Rock Casino that looks ok, it seems to get good reviews and should have enough there for you never to leave the property.

Good question!

I stayed off the strip (Palms Place, modern stylish but not perfectly maintaned) and then on strip (Palazzo, classic stylish) and the location mattered little (with the car) - they both provided a relaxed experience and free self parking.

Returned from 10 days in Vegas a week today - stayed in the Palazzo which was lovely and suited us perfectly. It's not a place we would want to visit every year but we are glad we have seen it.

We're there on the 3rd September, booking into the Rio as its the only place I know that has a truck-lot to park our 30ft RV.

Had planned to visit a gun range, is there a link to this Gun Safari or can anyone recommend anywhere.

I love going shooting, which I do in the UK and when I travel to use stuff we can't have here, but I find 'shooting experiences' only really worth it if you haven't shot before.

There is an outdoor range I was going to check out when I was over in Vegas in June that I had seen in videos that looked like a normal pay and play range, but in 112f heat the week I was there, never got around to it.

Full Auto mag dumps are fun though wink

it depends what you want to shoot really doesnt it full mag in an uzi or ak47 is alvery well and good but it doesnt last very long

also most ranges your just given the gun and sent on your way to figure it out your self (i have found)
the enjoyment of this was the background on the weapons etc and his stories about his days in the police etc. yes outdoor ranges are hot but least you can shoot from a decent distance compared to indoor ranges

Yes it doesn't last long! And it does suck when I have loads ammunition in the UK (legally, I have a FAC), but the American Customs would kick up a fuss if I stuck in my suitcase and took it over as it is deemed armor piercing.

I would shoot an outdoor range over indoor any day. Many places in the US won't let you hire a gun alone, as quite regularly go in to top themselves, but unlikely to do it if they bring a friend. Shooting a full bore rifle at 25m is just pointless IMHO (apart from the novelty of shooting one if you never had). But yes, most ranges send you on your way without telling you how to use the gun, and most people are too excited or rushed to think to ask - I hope no one had lost a finger trying to load a M1 Garand not knowing what they are doing as they can have a finger off in the blink of an eye!!!

But on the whole there are not many places to do distance shooting in the US outside the more barren states, unlike the UK where we have quite a few places. I was out in Washington State last weekend, out shooting to 500 yards with friends in a State Forest as there are no accessible ranges to do that.

Thanks, Is there anywhere on the north of the city as we will be coming from Death Valley?

I have limited gun experience from my CCF days, but that was along time ago.

Going back to Vegas next week for our third trip.

Hoping to take in some new restaurants that we've not visited before, any recent recommendations?
Don't mind paying for quality within reason but don't want to go too mad. Maybe $150-200 for a meal inc drinks.

Also, is there anywhere that does similar to Cosmopolitans Milo's Lunchtime Special, which is a $22 3 course (which goes up when extra's are added etc), but its an absolute bargain even when all added in. We could go again but would rather try somewhere new.

Thanks in advance!

Check out the http://www.eatinglv.com site, there was a recent post about a rush of new restaurant openings.

Otherwise eater.com has a fairly comprehensive list of openings/closings.
