Myself and the other half are looking to go away in Egypt around June time, specifically to the Sharm El Sheikh area.

I know there has been some unrest in the country in recent months but has it died down yet and does it effect the area were looking at?

Thanks

Just returned from there. No problems but pretty quiet. Keep an eye on the foreign office website but should be fine

'Kin... We usually go in May and it's as hot as you'd ever need. As for safety, I would go tomorrow quite happily.

I've been before in July a few years ago and the heat was bearable to be honest.

I've had a look on the Foreign Office website and they said the Sharm el Sheikh area is fine.

I'm still in touch with our tour guide who took us round Luxor a few years ago, he is convinced all of Egypt is safe apart from a few areas of Cairo. friends have been to Sharm recently and said it is fine.

I go twice a year to the Sinai for diving holidays, and have always felt safe, there have been isolated incidents in the Sinai, but its a big area and nothing around Sharm or Dahab, and even if it did kick off, it would be easy enough to get to the either Israel or Jordan.

Perfectly safe, I did wind my friends back here up in January though! I posted a picture on F/Book of an explosion in front of the bar I was in, titled 'they said it was safe here in Sharm' they were not to know it was the grounds being mosquito bombed..

I was just on holiday in El Gouna on the red sea. Everything is safe. Most of the violence in Egypt is centered in the Capital city Cairo it self. I won't worry to much.

Sharm is safe - tourism is almost all their income. Do not fret they will do all they can to look after you. The biggest problem is Russians who have never seen a queue before
