Yup get the train from Porthmadog to Ffestiniog and back. You don't have to drive all the way to Ffestiniog to get it. Another vote for borth y gest. The wife and I go there for Sunday breakfast overlooking the harbour.

Give us a wave. We're sitting in the caravan by snowdon at the moment !!

Agreed. Beddgelert is far nicer than grey Ffestiniog. Just don't mention the dog hehe

Chaps were here, easy drive once off the 55, we stopped for lunch at http://m.canoewales.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cano...
Which thrilled the kids and was more interesting than a cafe.
Will do the train on Monday, tomorrow will be beach and castle.
The Chippy que goes down quickly and the ice cream place does lovely cakes - parking is a bh!

Portmeirion is near there if that's up your street
Agreed - went there a few months ago and it was really nice. It's on the way as well. Get your tickets on the internet though before you go...it's cheaper.

If you go after 2 (might be 3) o'clock it's half price but still enough time to have a wander round the place and see everything.
While you can wizz round the village very quickly, there is a lot to see in the details of the buildings. Plus there are several miles of paths through the woods. Been going for 10years to stay in the village. Still find new paths to explore.

The pub next door to the tiny cottage we are in is for sale for £300k, it made me dream of a new life.
However there are so many holiday lets here it's a ghost town in winter sadly
