Heathrow valet parking
Discussion
I personally wouldn't use Purple Parking again after an incident last year where my return flight from my holidays was cancelled until the next day, and the cheeky b******s charged me an extra days parking for it, even though it wasn't my fault - their response was 'well it's wasn't OUR fault either!' I was fuming.
Why whats up with that, my flight had been cancelled, i'd been stood in an airport all day waiting for the BA staff to decide to turn up to tell us whats going on, then get back and find Purple Parking want to sting me for another day - instead of just saying 'don't worry about it'. So yes, it was a serious post. Glad it amused you.

Of course you were charged an extra days charge day for an extra days parking you used. But then you claimed on your travel insurance for the extra days parking and realised all was right with the world.davegreg said:

You couldn't have just paid for it and claimed it back from your travel insurance if an extra days' parking put you out so badly? What happens if your food is served late and you have to pay an extra hours' parking in the multi story, do you go back to the restaurant and ask for it back, or have an argument with someone at the exit barrier? I fail to see why Purple Parking should have to waive your extra days' parking.davegreg said:

Thanks, it amused me. Just looked at Umair's site. Interesting idea.
I always just take the shed to the airport and do a 'park and fly' booking.
At Gatwick I use the Sofitel that does need you to leave your keys so they can move you car if needs be. Usually just to the top floor of the car park. It's only been moved once and the odometer was only one mile higher, so it hadn't gone far.
Heathrow I've just left the car in the hotel car park and taken the keys with me.

I used Garaged.com in May. Can't speak highly enough of Umair who runs it. He met us at drop off exactly as agreed and picked us back again bang on time as we walked outside. I only took my van due to the amount of luggage we had but he still washed it for free!! Top man and will be calling on his services every time now.

I've had a look at that site too, a little confused is how I left. This doesn't seem to be a valet parking service, it just mentions you driving to their pound and being given a lift to the airport.I always just take the shed to the airport and do a 'park and fly' booking.

Also when I did a quick quote for parking at Heathrow it was £130 for 5 days - pricey but the map link provided shows a premises at Gatwick.
Is this a quirk of the site? From the posts above I got the impression they picked up your car on a recovery vehicle and took it from airport to pound then returned it to you at the airport the same way.
Clear as mud - or am I being a bit thick?

I'm just curious really as I'd like to think we can support a fellow PH'ers business where possible rather than the usual franchises.
Is it a Valet service or Park and Ride?
As far as i know it's both... depending on what you needIs it a Valet service or Park and Ride?
We just tailor things for the PH'er & whatever is easiest for them
