Oh yes. the police in the US would never use a method like that to catch speeders and they are always so polite and friendly, as numerous videos will show.
Funnily enough Mrs BC got stopped for speeding in Texas earlier this year. Very friendly, polite policeman gave her a written warning. Think it expires after 3 months.

You drove 850 miles without seeing a Gendarmerie??? eek

A visit to Specsavers might be timely. wink
Blue cars with flashing blue lights and sirens and lots of big writing in white on the side? Nope never saw any. And I have 20:20 vision.
Is a Gendarmerie not a building? Like, the police station?

ETA - google seems to think it's the actual Police Force as a whole thing, or a group. Can you see 'a' Gendarmerie in that case?

It's both the building and the force in general.

'course, pointing out that traffic enforcement isn't even the Gendarmerie's responsibility, but that of the Police Nationale (a _completely_ separate body), is probably tipping towards pedantry...

We have seen stuff like this too many times
I saw similar to that on Sunday, in England.

Which got me thinking, the last time I saw something like that was..... a few weeks previously, in England.

If speed traps offend you, then the developed world is not for you.

I doubt he ever ventures out of Norfolk, and has obviously never been on the M6 toll road.

'He' hasn't been to Norfolk for a year or so.

You didn't bother to read the thread before making that daft comment did you?

I read the thread and whilst I may have got your geographic location wrong you do seem to have a very "little Englander" state of mind, speed traps you describe are common on the M6 toll and other roads throughout the UK, still don't let that get in the way of your Daily Mail coloured bigoted views on France.

During my visit... The only speed gun activity I saw, was 2 gendarmes, on the pavement just leaving a built up area.....

Every single vehicle that approached me flashed their lights.... Even a little old lady in a beat up Citroenhehe

Yes, I have noticed that French motorists are very good at warning other drivers of speed traps.

Not much use on the motorways tho.

Fortunately you know what time you got on to the peage and so a simple calculation will tell you the earliest time to leave to avoid having your collar felt.

I was right, you clearly didn't read the whole thread.

Of course there are speed traps in the UK. Far too many IMO but our police do make a point of targeting foreign registered cars.

I don't know about that but there is a suggestion that there are a lot of foreign registered cars that are not insured.

In the UK we have such a hard on for ANPR we sometimes forget that not all countries motorists are as tightly controlled as us.

To be honest 130kph is fine for making progresssmile lane discipline, and low traffic levels (generally) mean that you can get to your destination in a relaxed manner within the law if you want...??

Last year I was with a load of Aston owners that got pulled for driving like dicks in poor conditions.... Not one of them bhed about it afterwards, as they accepted they were in the wrong, and accepted the consequences...

France has an issue with road casualty levels, and they're trying to do something about it..... Good for them I saythumbup
