Paris doesn't have to be massively expensive. You can fly from Manchester or Leeds for about £100. Outside of the summer holidays not that I'd suggest it for a proposal trip Ryanair fly to Beauvais which they pretend is near Paris, presumably cheaply

Check out the Yorebridge House - location is amazing plus 2 of the rooms have private out door hot tubs.

You can propose to your girlfriend whilst sitting in the hot tub sipping champagne (whilst trying not to think about the fact that I my had my wicked way with an ex right where you are sitting wink

My choice would be Seville. Doesn't get any more romantic than Seville in Europe. Get her hot under the collar at one of the flamenco bars and she will be like tapas in your hand

Just showed the wife this thread and her comment was - "Why TF hasn't he booked Paris yet?!"

Sorry, slightly negative, but I got proposed to at the top of the tower in Paris, and I prefer the tower in Bruges! (Admittedly Bruges was with a better man too......) Paris was disappointing for me, probably as it was big dirty and smelly and Bruges was smaller and had a lot more charm. Bruges if you can IMHO, she won't be disappointed!

Eurostar normally release their cheapest fares to Paris (or Brussels for Bruges) 3 months before date of travel - tends to be around £60 return, and they often do deals with accommodation too. Obviously you'd have to factor in the transport from Yorkshire too. I got a good hotel in Bastille from Last Minute "secret hotels".

The Bruges option by ferry from Hull looks interesting, they do 4 night "mini cruises" for around £80 each, at a glance you seem to get accommodation for 2 nights on the boat, but have to find your accommodation for 2 nights in Bruges. I've also stay in Martin's hotel in Bruges, nothing fancy but the most central location you could want, and they do deals on their website.

I've just been looking up Bruges and think this might be the way to go. The Mrs isn't a harsh or judgmental woman (very easy going). Funnily enough she bought up the other day saying that she would not like to be a man when proposing as she feels this is a huge thing for a bloke. Also mentioned that she would be happy anyway I chose as long as I had chosen it for the right reasons so I'm pretty confident where ever i chose she will be happy smile.

Oh dear...I fear you've a bad lesson coming your way all too soon.

The first highlighted passage refers to the pre-marriage persona. When the transformation takes place, this trip you are planning will be front and centre of all future 'heated discussions'.

The second passage is for you to see through the sub-text and understand that as long as you agree 100% with her choice then you'll have done it 'for the right reasons'.

Mods - can you shift this thread to the relationships zone?

Bruges is lovely, btw.
