It's my brother's birthday soon and he's going to Australia towards the end of the year to work for at least a year or 2.

I thought a decent luggage bag would be a good gift.

So far I've found these which I like, but I'm not sure what size? around 70 odd litres or 110?

Any recommendations at all? Thank you.

70 litres isn't very big. I'd probably go bigger.

Cotswolds are on quidco so 6% cash back if you buy through them just so you know

I've just bought the Ayachcucucucu or what ever it is. I really wanted to get the 100L mountain equipment as the quality is really good and i have one of their 40L duffles which has held up really well on the back of a motorbike. The handle quality seems pretty poor though and so I opted for the Ayhchchchususu. The bag isn't quite as good but the handle seems a lot stronger and that's always the weak point on these sort of bags I think.

That said, neither of them have internal frames so are prone to falling over when left alone in the vertical position. The AYayayhshshsh has a slightly better foot to it which I think will hold it up better, but they'll both need to be pretty full to stand up.

Look at Eagle Creek stuff, very good and no quibble guarantee. We travel with 2 switchback 26s an ORV 30 and an ORV 36.We nearly always return overweight.
If you "travelling" I think Eagle Creek is the only option as it's so versatile.

Is he going travelling, or moving with work IYSWIM? As a big bag like that is ok for travelling out there (But if he's moving it may be too small.) but far too big IMO for use getting about.

I swear by PLCE bergens not sure how that would fit your brother though.

120+ litres is its size, a big bag doesn't have to be filled up, but gives room to play with.

Cheers for inputs. I don't think he'll be traveling around much. He already went to Aus a couple of years back so he's going out there to work in Sydney predominantly. I think his baggage allowance is an odd sounding 32kgs (not sure if that can be over 2 bags or not?).

In the end I went for the Osprey Shuttle 80L bag.

It had really good reviews, I just hope he likes it. smile

Who is he flying?

Usually it is:
1 x 23kg for discounted Economy
2 x 23kg for full fare Economy and Economy Plus
3 x 32kg Business

If he high level frequent flyer status he will get more with some airlines (BA give 2 x 32kg even on a discounted economy ticket for Silver and up)

Bag arrived today from wiggle. So came quickly!

Had a quick look over the bag and I'm pretty impressed. If anyone's interested it was 120 quid delivered and from first impressions I think I'll pick one up myselfsmile
