As the MSE guide says, use a fee-free credit or debit card if you are going to use an ATM. If our card company does charge then try and take out as much as possible each time since there will be a fixed fee.

I have one of the old Santander Zeri cards, they do charge interest on cash advances but you can negate that by either pre-loading the balance (naughty) or just paying in an amount ASAP.
