agree with the above, i live there and can't see why people choose it for a holiday destination.
I wouldn't live there yet I enjoyed holidays there. Lots of amazing architecture and hotels to chose from. And the world cosmopolitan gets redefined.

Book Marhaba for the airport or you will be stuck in the immigration queue for days.

Come here with an open mind and no pre-conceptions and you will have a great time.

If I can manage not to get arrested here then you are perfectly fine.

And I survived Libya and the Civil War, plus I managed to upset a high ranking Army Officer whilst I was there.. biggrin

What's this marhaba lark? Is it a service to guide you around the queues? Is it worth going for the gold service?

If going business/first there is probably no need. It can be VERY busy if not.

Planning on getting a cheaper upgrade to business or first at the airport. If that fails is there enough time to book online at the departure airport?

Restated again in English.

I don't know the answer to your question about last minute booking online as I have have never used the Marhaba service.

I have had a bad week, and I am sat at home thinking that a week in a nice in hotel in Dubai would go down very well.

Am just back this morning after 6 nights, second time this year.

Very warm and humid - 42" during the day, 35" at night.

Only left the hotel grounds once due to heat and having seen everything we want to see.

Service and cleanliness is superb out there, that's what keeps bringing me back.

Kudos

kinda agree with the latter, but you have to be kidding about the architecture, it's terrible!

jon - marhaba [meaning welcome] reps meet you as soon as you step off the flight and take you right through immigration and into a taxi. with the top level i think they use their exec cars to take you to the hotel. depending what time you land immigration at dxb can be a nightmare. its at its worst when a few flights from africa and the subcontinent have just landed as their documentation gets scrutinised and many are coming in for first time working visas.

my parents are visiting in november and i am booking marhaba for them to avoid fannying around.

Have to book at least 24 hours in advance, then have a Careem waiting smile (https://www.careem.com/dubai/ignition)

I booked it for my Mum and it saved her about 2 hours in the queue and then she got taken to the hotel in a S Class AMG which she loved.

https://www.marhabaservices.com/

It is very much worth it IMO, I even book it for myself when I fly back from the UK (I fly cattle class)

wow, not at all kidding, understand not everyone's cup of tea but if you look for modern yet creative and interesting (not always the case in europe or the us), not to mention literally sky-high, i think dubai is no. 1 in the world.

I'm coming to Dubai in 3 weeks, and didn't realise the immigration queues were an issue! Just looked at Marhaba and will definitely be booking. But just wanted to check something. I'm flying BA First... Will that get me through immigration at Dubai any quicker, or will I still have to get in the same queue? (Excuse my ignorance! I've never been to Dubai before).

There will be no problem with the queue going first - there is a separate section for biz and 1st.

OT [sorry] but which buildings do you like? other than jumeirah towers, the group aroudn the burj khalifa, and the perhaps the burj al arab, i can't think of anything which stands out. there's no cohesion to it either.

To me the marina (pictured) is quite bland apart from the twisted building.
I love the skyline of the financial centre and around the Burj Khalifa - it's quite surreal.
