New York - Awesome things to do and EAT!
Discussion
I mostly just enjoyed walking around the various neighbourhoods on foot been several times and always find something new. Everyone claims to have the best slice of pizza, burger, etc. The high end places all tend to serve a lunch menu, same quality generally as the dinner menu at a fraction of the price so a good way of dinning in some iconic places. For an overall dinning experience (food + view + atmosphere) the River Café is hard to beat IMO.
After several trips I’d not included a visit to the Intrepid (retired aircraft carrier) and went on my last trip and really enjoyed it. Also would second the Staten Island ferry. I’ve not done much in NYC that I didn’t find worth while TBH.

Would recommend going up The Rockefeller Centre rather than The Empire State Building.
The Rockefeller is more pleasant up top with space to move around and more importantly you get to take in the iconic Empire State from here which you can't really do if you are perched atop of it!
As someone said earlier; Grand Central Station was a real highlight for me. Blown away by the scale and beauty of the architecture. Got pretty wasted in the Oyster bar down below....
Wikipedia says:
The observation deck atop the skyscraper, dubbed "Top of the Rock", reopened to the public on November 1, 2005, after undergoing a $75 million renovation. It had been closed since 1986 to accommodate the renovation of the Rainbow Room (although this has also recently closed due to economic difficulties). The deck, which is built to resemble the deck of an ocean liner, offers sightseers a bird's eye view of the city, competing with the 86th floor observatory of the Empire State Building.[33] It is often considered the best panoramic city view,[34] if only because it offers a view of the aforementioned Empire State Building, which cannot be seen from its own observation deck.[35] The timed entry system and larger observation deck also results in shorter waiting times compared to the Empire State.

I had the best burgers of my life at Schnipper's Quality Kitchen (we went to the one opposite Port Authority). Went back three times.

Katz deli for some big sandwiches
Yep, had one last week. My wife couldn't finish hers. I'd also recommend The Meatball Shop at 64 Greenwich Ave and a boozy cupcake from Prohibition Bakery at 9 Clinton St.Still, will defo go to Katz's again.
Im also there for 3 weeks in September for work. Planning on going to the Intrepid Museum. USS Intrepid, Space Shuttle, Concorde and loads of aircraft. Right up my street. Will book mark this page to take on board your food suggestions.

Brennan & Carr as shown in Man V Food
Lombardi's Pizza
All superb.
I'd do both Empire State Building & Top Of The Rock - they are very different.
Think about the Intrepid Museum, just the size of the thing is incredible, let alone what they have packed in there.
I didn't do it but I believe you can go to the Federal Reserve bank.
Take the subway to Brooklyn and walk back to the city across the bridge, as dusk is best so you can see the thing lit up!
Ellis Island is also good if you want to wander around a museum, you get to it from the same boat that goes to Liberty Island.
