Off to Belgium on Friday to Center Parcs. Forget the Maldives, Center Parcs in Belgium is where all the cool cats go.

Anyway, I'm going to need some supplies. Mostly booze. What are the Belgian equivalents of Sainsbury's, Waitrose etc. Don't want to end up in a bloody Asda.

Buy cigars, there about only 30% of UK prices.

Carrefour is fairly popular. I'm not sure it's Waitrose level, but I've been to Belgium a few times and never seen anything that is! I think they may be a bit less snobbish about their supermarkets there...

Carrefour did the job for us last year for the F1 at Spa. Had pretty much everything we needed at a reasonable price. I regularly shops at Co-Op, Asda, Morrisons and Sainsburys with occasional trips to Waitrose, Lidl and Aldi. Don't get the whole supermarket snobbery that some folk have.

Not sure there are such equivalents, but its a while since I lived out there. Our daily shopping was at 'Delhaize'. The beer selection was superb and cheap.

Colruyt = Asda
Carrefour = Tescos
Delhaize = waitrose

Carrefour should be fine but note that the beer prices on the shelves are AFTER the bottle return. The price you pay at the til is higher!

Yep, I always seem to bring back a selection of obscure ones!

Delhaize used to be the same, don't know if it still is. We used to use the Jesus Eik store. I would have said the store was more Kwik Save in feel than Waitrose, though this was miss 90s.

OP- if you get chance, make sure you stop at one of the roadside food trailers. Unlike the ones in the UK, the food is awesome- perfect frites and a frikadella or similar. About 10 choices of sauce. I used to go to one in Wavre that was Devine.

How far from Spa is it? I'm out there next weekend for Leon Eurocup.

Used Carrefour in Romania seemed a good sueprmarket.

10km from the track according to Google Maps. We were camping up the road from where the supermarket is at Parc des Sources so it was only a stones throw away.

It's inherent in the British character. Rest of the world rarely suffers from it to the same degree, if at all. Most Brits judge supermarkets by the availability of ready meals anyway.

I came out of a Carrefour in Belgium a few months ago to find the filthy contents of a large plastic bin dumped on my car with the bin lying next to it on the floor. I wandered around the car park to replace the bin and discovered that there weren't actually any bins there, they'd bought that one with them. Place was absolutely heaving as well.

Nice to know they went to all that trouble though.
