Hi All

Just looking at the long stay parking. It seems that car park 1 is twice the price of car park 7. Has anyone used either sufficiently to confirm whether the convenience of 1 is worth the additional cost?

Just had a look but can't see car park 7 anywhere.

However, I've stayed in the one called Car Park 5, which is adjacent to the apron, and only a few minutes walk from the terminal. Is this what you meant?

If so, it is a literal short walk to the terminal, short enough to render the shuttle buses redundant in my view. I wouldn't pay more to park any closer unless I had mobility issues.

Car park 1 is within a hundred yards of the terminal, very easy for wheeling cases etc. I've not tried the others but 1 is certainly very very convenient.

I prefer using car parks 2 and 3 for convenience, even over car park 1. Got a significant discount booking in advance using a third party website - I used Holiday Extras but that was over a year ago and these things change so don't rely on that. I was only away for a long weekend so if you're going for a week or more, it might be prohibitively expensive to stay there compared to long stay parking.

ETA: I've just found the parking map on the BHX website and realised where CP7 is. Don't bother with that - it's a long way from the terminal and impossible to get to without a shuttle bus or taxi. CP5 is walkable if you are so inclined. Not sure why they don't use the car park numbers on the numbered markers on this map!

So, 2/3 are the way to go then. I might be arriving late at night and the last thing I will want is a hike / to wait for the bus.

1 is very convenient if it's cold/wet and late. It's also covered...

Out of interest, do you know the 3 letter designations for all airports? I'm always fascinated when people use them in a thread as if everyone would naturally know that "Flying into LOS last week..." means Murtala Muhammed International four eggs ample.

5 isn't a hike, unless you're the type of person who'll use the car to go 100 years, then it is smile. It's 5 minutes from the airport door. I like a bit of a walk after a flight, helps clear the travel fug a bit.

It's a shorter walk from 2/3 to the terminal building, they're also multi-storey so covered, and there's less uncovered external distance if it's raining. Plus they're usually a couple of pounds cheaper. CP1's main convenience is that you don't have to go past the pick-up/drop-off dawdlers to get to it when you arrive to park.

That's worth knowing, I didn't think you could get more convenient than 1. I reckon you could trip over the mat leaving the terminal and end up in car park 1 biggrin

I guess 2/3 are closer to the desk end of the terminal?

I don't know how the two terminals are numbered to be honest - but you can see how close cp2/3 is on Streetview. You might have to walk a way inside the building if your check-in desk is the other end so I guess cp1 could be more convenient.

I'm still trying to get my head round the fact that 3 is 1! hehe
