Going to Tunisia in September, a last minute decision , it's at an all inclusive resort in Port El Kantaoui, which I've read is a purpose built resort on the coast? It will be a chilled out by the pool and beach week, and perhaps a days excursion somewhere, the question is, do we need vaccinations as we won't be straying far from the hotel ? Thanks.

^ No. Food will be ok too.
I enjoyed Tunisia. 2 weeks AI. Beach resort. Loved it.
The waterpark in Port El Kantoui was awful though hehe
We went to the Colliseum in El Gem. Was good but I wouldn't recommend it as the coach journey there was too long for it was worth.

Went to port al kantaoui many many years ago and it is really quite lovely. Long windy beach but plenty of nice hotels and a lovely port to wander around. I am pretty certain that the resort will be fully developed now but it was still under construction when we went.

Enjoy!

Port El Kantaoui isn't far from Sousse which has an interesting old town quarter away from the strip of hotels by the beach.

It's crazy at the airport. We went by coach from hotel to there. The coach driver pulls up outside and leaves the doors locked but opens the underneath so guys can grab the suitcase, take it in to the airport then ask for a fee.
We get off the coach, into the airport and get our bags but my fiancee's suitcase was missing. I ran round the airport, no sign of it. 5 minutes later one of the guys turned up with it and I gripped him. Shook myself as I didn't want to be causing a scene in a foreign country.
After a chilled holiday that did leave a sour taste.

I'm in Tunis on business imminently. Have read the FCO advice concerning those angry gentlemen with peculiar head gear over the border; sounds like the city, where I'll be, should be no problem but having never been before I have no idea what to expect. Do I have anything to be worried about?

We had the same in the hotel, 20 mins later after arriving our suitcases arrive to our room. I think they do it on purpose for tips

Went a few years back. No jabs, great quality hotel and food was good. Did do a 3 day sahara jeep safari (El Jem, Star Wars set, salt flats etc) where the overnight hotels were less good and got a case of the rampant trots in the middle of nowhere with only a cafe in an oasis for 'comfort'.

Spent a couple of hours of constantly borrowing the toilet key (on a chain tied to a brick) from the bloke behind the bar!

Of the 39 countries I've been to, it's the one I've liked the least. I think it's the clash of cultures which means that I really did not like it. The locals would grab my wife's arm and try to drag her into the shop. They don't do this with women from Tunisia, so it's not really on to do it to Foreigners. Everyone was blatantly after money (The suitcases scam was tried) and the constant attention really grated, especially in restaurants/cafes.
We've had similar in many countries but in Tunisia, it always felt a little more aggressive and much more uncomfortable.
Glad I've been, but I don't want to go back

Same experience in Egypt and, I presume, I would have had the same experiences across Central & South America if I couldn't have spoken Spanish (and some really basic Portugese) to tell the locals to fk off and leave us alone. Unfortunately us tourists are walking £/$/€/¥ signs to these people and they are desperate to make some cash.

Cuba for sure, Tanzania was also amazing. I lived in Spain so that was also fabulous. I liked Bali and Brazil but also strangely Moscow

I'm glad I speak Spanish now. It makes life easier when I work in Costa Rica or Argentina. Portuguese is a bit of a problem though
