Budget/Late holidays

I have just ben made redundant and have a bit of cash saved up, so instead on doing the sensible thing and giving all my time to looking for a new job I was planning on having a week away from things with the OH and then getting stuck into it when we get back.

I am looking for something for around £500 per person but would like this to include flights if needed.

I have suggested Jersey and other places that are reasonably close but this was met with a bit of a silence. so considering I can't remember the last time I have been on holiday abroad I was thinking of something nice.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a budget get away for 7 nights?

I've had a great deal of success by going through AirBnB - excellent prices and in places that are not always 'Touristy'

Dates for when you would be going?

Specific dates help as flights can be cheap one day where as the following day the price could be double.

Thanks for the ideas and places to look. I am reasonably flexable on when to go so I suppose it would be once all of the schools have gone back (early September? ).

I would assume this would the the cheapest time to go. May be wrong on that one tuough.

I'm in the same boat. I've worked all thru the summer holidays and feel I owe my kids a week in the sun. I'd love to fly out somewhere hot from Gatwick on Monday for a week with the wife and 2 kids for £1200-£1400.

Any suggestions for bargain late breaks?

By a moment of misfortune we once ended up at the airport with bags packed, wallets full of pesetas (yep, that long ago) and passports. Our holiday company had gone bust overnight.

Phoned up the travel agent who got us a flight out after a few hours to the same resort - less than half the price.

Seen links to these lot via Hot UK Deals never used them but they're just a deal finder so the actual holiday should be covered by the usual insurances. Seem cheap if you're flexible on destination.
