Who is going skiing and where 2015?
Discussion
For those who are seriously considering driving from one resort to another daily for the snow - clearly countless others might be doing exactly the same so traveling time might be much longer and parking might be difficult.
In addition its been mentioned on some forums that certain resorts are restricting access.
Good luck to all those going out - but regardless of if the snow comes or is ok its a holiday with friends and family so enjoy.

Correct. Morzine/Avoriaz will currently only issue out ski passes to those who can provide proof they are staying within the resorts or have a AVZ address. In addition its been mentioned on some forums that certain resorts are restricting access.

If anyone knows it, here's a pic from today of the approach to Les Houches from Albertville up the viaduct... Absolutely no snow!

Is he going with Interski by any chance? Worked for them for a few seasons. Pila looks decent on the webcams. Most of the skiing is in a large bowl so holds the snow it gets very well. In my experiene it's pretty snowsure throughout the season and a cracking area to ski in.
Brilliant, thanks for that. Yes, Interski. Coach trip from Reading. 10 yrs old, Mrs SS is cacking herself, first trip away from home. He'll be fine.If the current forecast comes true I'm going to feel REALLY sorry for people who booked the Christmas week for skiing. There's not much worse than having a crap week of snow, only to wake up and have to brush 12cm of snow off their car before driving home (current village forecast for Les Gets) - and if you have a late depart, seeing the beaming faces of the new weeks guests arriving to a sea of fresh snow.
Looks like some chilly nights ahead though, -16.

Yup looks like it's set to start snowing in most parts of Austria and not stop for a week!
Parts of France looking at a big dump Sunday/Monday with well over a meter.
The snow gods are fickle. It could be a case of being careful what you wish for if there's too much closing lifts etc while avalanche risk is sorted.

Nope, much the same. You know the lake on the right hand side of the road, opposite the rock climbing wall on the way into town? It's not even frozen over, and there's absolutely no snow at ground level. Even the rock climbing is open! Feels like summer Cham. We did a day trip to Megeve yesterday which we always try to fit in. Didn't even bother taking the skis though, just had a walk around. It was 9°c in the town centre!

Even here in Morgins we're looking at 30-50cm between Thursday and Sunday. The snow gods are fickle. It could be a case of being careful what you wish for if there's too much closing lifts etc while avalanche risk is sorted.
Sunday will be an absolute nightmare though - unclear how many lifts will be open, but sure as hell EVERYONE will be out on the slopes (especially as Saturday is changeover day for the punters arriving for New Year week)

....February half-term: La Clusaz, with the family.
After briefly discussing a meet up last year - will our half terms coincide this year? Will be there 14-21 Feb, staying in the Val du Neige just up the road from La Ferme. We've rented an apartment in the centre of town on the downhill 1 way.
43 cm of new snow forecast there in the next couple of days....and if you look at the webcam for the new Bossonet lift, you'll see it's much needed!
We've even 12cm of snow forecast for Luxembourg tomorrow!
