It's more so the French resorts that suffer due to crowds in Feb, I'd sooner be in Austria in February than anywhere in France particularly when it's the Paris area half term week. I've been in Austria when it' been the Fasching week plus Dutch half term and it's not really noticeable.France is best avoided when it's our half term as it coincides with theirs-they realises in blocks from roughly the middle of Feb to mid March. Although I hear other than the UK half term it's not too horrible other than the inflated price.

Have to say it was a very impressive place.
The missus did a 3 hr beginners snowboard lesson and by the end she was doing proper turns etc. Was amazed at the progress. Think a little refresher just before we go will be a good shout but from then on she should be able to hit the slopes instantly which will be good
ThFankfully for me its like riding a bike and I was back to 'normal' almost instantly. The lift pass option just to go on the main slope was reasonable money (3hrs for £40 I think) but I got bored after 1 and got changed and watched the missus. Once you are fairly competent, a 5 second downhill blast followed by 5 mins queueing and riding the button lift gets old (and tiring walking awkwardly with one foot in a snowboard) pretty quickly.....
All round though, definitely an excellent place for a refresher or lessons before going proper. Very impressed with the scale of it; the photo makes it look small but it was actually massive for an indoor place.
i spend quite a lot of time up at Hemel with a couple of mates - you soon learn when the quiet periods are - avoid weekends at all costs.Have to say it was a very impressive place.

Freestyle Thursday's and Fridays are a really good laugh - it can seem a bit cliquey but if you put yourself out and talk to people, they are a good bunch. Just as ready to offer advice as laugh when you fall over.
Anyone wanting a refresher board lesson - drop me a pm - I can give you the details of a guy who teaches up there but doesn't work for them. Much better price and far more qualified.

That's pretty much why I landed myself this freelance contract with MK, so I can get the teaching experience in before moving up to level 2.feef said:

What's the plan after that? Just some casual teaching in the UK or a more permanent move? If interested in teaching abroad once you've your lv 2 def give Interski a look. I came across a women instructor once who had a Lv 1 but was confined to the baby slope up the hill in Courmeyeur. Not sure how they/she swung that one. Always get a few free ski hours in a day and then a full day too. The least fun part is having to take a coach but you can opt to fly but it's usually at your own expense.

It looks like the Northern Alps are in line for some decent snow tonight. There's an intensifying band of precipitation about 45 minutes north west of Megeve at the moment, travelling South East. Fingers crossed, as we fly out for a long weekend in 2 weeks and it's currently looking more suited to Mountain Biking than skiing!!

Lech is a decent area ... pretty quiet on a evening but then I've only been during the day. Quiet-ish runs and plenty of places for lunch, although you'll need to buy champagne for lunch if you want to fit in.Just need to dig out the planks and get them off for a service.
Lift pass covers Zurs & St Anton plus a newly linked area (last season).

Was that video live speed or speeded up? If Live Oh my God I would dream of going anywhere near that fast on the piste let alone off piste. Huge respect to the guy who did the video - he must have done a pre run to work out the route (if he did that first time down .... )
