Desperately looking for an end of season get away, considering Tignes - getting a coach from Folkestone overnight and staying in Tignes les Brevieres as the prices are much lower with the same access to pistes. Anyone else heading to this area mid April/ fancy coming along as I have already done my family ski holiday back in February but need another fix before the end of the season.
I frequently do season beginning/end trips with these guys: http://mountainsunltd.com in Les Boisses. The hotel is basic, but it's cheap and the vibe/atmosphere in there is really chilled and laid back, with a decent bar. If you are going very late to Les Brev you may not be able to ski back, so I would check the travel/bus options, or whether you can descend on the chair, first. I am going at the end of April but I'm fully expecting to only be able to ski the glacier by then.was in zell am see last week and its was pretty good. we had 3 days of snow (not much, just a few cm's through the day/ overnight) and 3 days of sunshine. conditions on piste were great, piste machines were doing their thing overnight and the temp stayed low enough that even low down by the end of the day things were still ok. its a nice little resort, lots of options for food and drinks in town at night. only downside was i forgot how much i hate smoke, some places were ok, but others didnt seem to care if people smoked inside.
we did have a day over at the glacier in Kaprun and it appeared they had about 40cm of snow over night. everything between the pistes was being tracked out, but the snow was so light and deep that on normal piste skis it wasnt possible to make decent progress through it.
all in all a top week on the snow.

Bear in mind Les Brevieres is ~1550M so at that time of year it will most likely either be heavy going on the run back to the village, a mucky thin strip of brown snow, or not possible at all. Depends on the price difference I guess? I'd probably sty in one of the higher villages just for quicker access.897sma said:

Some pics - this is 800m level. That snow fell in 12 hours - its still snowing and should continue all week with it stepping up on Friday. Hot and sunny here in the Grand Massif at the moment with warm weather at least until the weekend
Couldn't get a decent flight back from Zurich which would allow us to ski on Sat and for my buddy to make his connection back to the US.
So, I ended up booking in and out of Geneva...and now left facing the "where to" choice from there. I'm thinking Chamonix (haven't been there) - did Morzine / Avoriaz last year and the snow was v soft after 11am same week. Chamonix tres bon???

Finally got round to planning a little trip for this season;
- 4 days alpe d'huez
- 4 days les deux alpes
- then up to 3vs with 2 nights in meribel then 3 in Val Thorens
- then further North for 5 more days, probably going to ski morzine, megeve/st gervais, chamonix, grand massif but still trying to find somewhere to stay in the area at a reasonable price.
