In Tignes at the moment. Had half a metre come down last night and it was still falling heavily until 2pm.
Visibility was awful and only a few lifts open at Val Claret.
Half a metre of powder on piste made for interesting progress this morning!
Want sun now please!
Keep an eye open for my daughter, she is there with the British Ski and Snowboard Association organising the junior Ski championshipsVisibility was awful and only a few lifts open at Val Claret.

Have officially binned my April season-ender to Tignes now, looks like that's me done for the season now
Saw you'd put that you were considering cancelling. Surely it's not that bad/can improve etc? EK has plenty to offer. If it's really warm and you haven't already I'd consider doing some touring, but the touring season is a way of in the EK.Mate who lives and instructs out there was saying it's gone wintry again and dumped.
Tour operators need to accept that the ski season has moved back/potentially longer.
Instead they try to push super early beach holidays in the Ned in April.../early May with dodgy conditions.
Let the season run longer else it's individuals going charter flights and without guaranteed volume resorts close early which is bonkers.
Take Bansko for instance loads of snow yet it's closing due to volume/no tour operators

EFATrust me, as a tour operator we'd keep going if there were people booking holidays!
Most people would assume mid Dec to early March that's it. Whereas its really early Jan through to end of April maybe later conditions dependant.

Quite often people's mindsets change though with spring too - move on from cold to sunny weather and warmth and so skiing isn't always as high up on the list of things to do.Most people would assume mid Dec to early March that's it. We arrived in morzine this morning.. conditions are probably the best they've been for the last 5 years at this time of the season. Only got as far as nyon and the ranfolly bowl this afternoon but there was very little 'spring snow' mostly nice firm pistes.
Hopefully the sun makes a showing tomorrow, lets face it, that's what everyone wants who goes skiing at easter!!

When does the snow sports season usually end in Scotland? Ive just finished my intermediate snowboarding lessons and fancy hitting some proper snow. I've not bought a board and boots yet so need to sort that out aswell.
Im considering glencoe, will I be able to camp this time of year or will the sites be shut? ive winter camped quite extensively in the UK and have all the gear.

I'm a season pass holder at cairngorm mountain and was on the mountain last Friday and Sunday. Conditions were excellent (for Scotland). Soft spring snow late morning. Great fun playing about on but the speed does drop off in the wet stuff. Still plenty of the mountain open. Weather is great just now so camping isn't an issue. Seen plenty of folk camping at the sites at Glenmore. Was at Glencoe a few weeks ago and they had lots of snow. I believe the conditions I have described are similar at Glencoe. I'd get your boots on though as if temperature stays as it is there will only be a few weeks left. Any advice you need drop me a pm. Been boarding for the last 6 years.

Boots, get fitted if you can. They need to be tight. TSA in braehead do a good job of this. I have burton boots and have lasted 3 seasons. For a board you want something that suits your style. I have a K2 playback 155cm with is classed as an all mountain board. I ride on piste mostly and try and do a few tricks. Don't pay too much attention to the board manufactures weight recommendations. Whatever size you have been learning on go for that or as close as. The wackier the design the better. Remember bindings are separate so budget for that.Foliage said:

Plenty of snow in Glencoe this weekend just gone!Im considering glencoe, will I be able to camp this time of year or will the sites be shut? ive winter camped quite extensively in the UK and have all the gear.
It's meant to be warm all week and then snow again at the weekend, so it's going to lose some and then gain a bit more so it's anybody's guess what it will be like next week. No problem with camping at this time of year although if I were going to Glencoe I'd probably stay at one of the hobbit huts, they look comfy and a definite step up from a tent. You can hire gear onsite as well so no issue on that front either.
