Thinking a out taking the family there next easter. Ideally need a apartment style accomodation with 2 different rooms for separate sleeping rooms (2 kids ages 8 & 13).

So far ive read about Beach View and Bougainvillea Beach Resort. They seem well thought of although neither looked that enticing in photos.

Any more ideas ? Ideally want to be on the west coast on a great beach and fairly luxurious (although dont want to pay £1000 per night sandy lane type prices).

Crane Beach is really nice, stayed there a few times, it's changed over the years but last time we went was well on the way to being what you're after.

ok looking at St. Lucia & Jamaica now as well.... reading tripadvisor is a bit offputting ... sounds ultra commercialised and chock full of english riff raff sitting around talking about how big their hot tubs are wink

If you're widening your potential locations, have a look at Aruba and St. Maarten. Wife and I have been to most Caribbean islands (including Barbados, good, and St. Lucia, not so good), and these two would be our pick.

And then there's always The Grenadines, Palm Island....

Almond beach is a possibility but although not that luxurious the facilities were quite nice - Its recently re-opened so not sure what its like now.

If you choose to go outside your area of choice then take a look at Ocean's Two on the South Coast.

The Sea is rougher (ideal for surfing etc) but beaches are very nice and the apartment style residence is fantastic.

Almond beach closed years ago, infact IIRC Almond beach club also changed hands. Sandals were due to take over the old almond village site.

A PH'r has an apartment that might be worth a look. Next door to mango bay

We usually stay in a Royal Villa at Royal Westmorland but this is not on the beach (although they run a private shuttle bus to their own private beach). Ideal if you want to play Golf.

Hi Steve you are right about Almond closing and changing hands but part of hotel is now back open after a refurb and due to turn into Sandals at some point in the future - it's a good location with direct access to beach.

I have some pictures from our last visit of the deserted Almond Village, eek shocking to say the least.

Had a look last night as got the holiday bug now. it looks like the beach Club has now been made a family hotel rather than adults only. anyone know? We stayed at the beach club before the kids and got an upgrade to one of the ocean view apartments. We also got married in the sugar mill at the village and that was the reason we went wandering around the deserted site. wink was a shame to see it in such a mess tho.

My aunt's got a 4-bed villa a couple of minutes walk from Mullins if you're still looking at Barbados. Otherwise, St Martin is a nice place if you stay away from Pihlipsburg when the cruise ships come in when it gets very very busy.

Yup - we stayed at the Melia Cayo Santa Maria - excellent beach (one of the nicest i've seen), good hotel, good food and very friendly resort.
