Just cooking dinner and realised how many things have been brought back from different holidays while walking round the local shops and markets

Tea towels, various bowls and dishes all hand painted, mortar and pestle.

So what little gems have you picked up while holidaying.

I came back from Spain with a pair of Carl Zeiss 8x30 binoculars.
Went to Devon and the kids made me a mug for Father's day.
Apart from those, just the usual tat.

A Marco polo survival knife from Spain when I was a teenager, my mum wasn't impressed when I showed her back home; dad loved it though. Haven't seen it for years so assume my brother nicked it.

A pair of wooden giraffes one at 7ft tall and one about 5ft6. Good old BA did not bat an eyelid when we turned up to check in. The black cab from Heathrow on the other hand.....

Endless french yoghurt jars. Bloody love them and use them for everything from pudding moulds to candle holders and somewhere to deposit tea bags. Even used them as small vases.

But they have to be french as it is a very specific design.

A little plastic fish. Sold by a guy at the train station in malaysia who (pretended I think) to be deaf and said he made these for some cash for his family. I thought at the time it was wood tbh.

It might seem like I'd been scammed, and in some ways I had, but to me it was less than 20p. To him that 20p obviously meant a lot. Just seemed a nice thing to do really. That plastic fish has travelled with me ever since and been to some pretty special places.

I bought a lovely obsidian statue of the Sun God in Mexico when I was a teen. Sadly I broke it recently when it got knocked off the shelf it has occupied for years.
