First time in NYC
Discussion
Hi all,
I'm currently in NYC for my first trip. It's awesome.
I'm going to do the usual tourist things and visit all the necessary places such as Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, Times Square
I really want to get some more "local suggestions"
I'm wanting to see a Sports event and do some other things.
If any one has any suggestions or any PHers from NYC fancy a drink. Drop me a PM
Cheers all for the input and suggestions

Thanks guys.
Not looking for any touristic information really. As I've done all that quite quickly.
More preferring suggestions of bars and restaurants that are a must visit.
Again not places like 5 Guys or Shake Shack (done it) and not White Castle - I got the munchies (NPH wasn't there)
Really just bars and great restaurants

Writing this again as mobile Safari just crashed.
Cheers for the suggestion - as it happens I was passing MSG on my first day and it happened that Rangers were playing the Islanders. I just had to buy a ticke
It was amazing however the rangers didn't win!
I've done Times Square and Central Park - both simply in their own way.
Can I do Empire State, Statue of Liberty and Rockerfeller all in one day? Do you recommend all 3?
Went to Macy's today.
Do you recommend a visit to the outlet stores - some guys here told me to go...

Don't mention that scoreline! (Rangers fan here )
I've been twice now and only seen the statue of Liberty from the shore - didn't fancy a boat trip when its -3deg C!
Haven't done the empire state either - our reasoning was that you can't see the empire state from the top of the empire state!
We stopped in the Hilton Garden in TriBeCa so enjoyed a nice walk along the Hudson and up through soho, Greenwich & the village to Times Square.
If you are going to a show, try the TKTS booths (one in Times Square) as they give cheaper tickets (the sand as tix4tonight in Vegas).

I can highly recommend the Empire State - it's a must do experience. Don't rush to get to the top but have a good look around, it's a beautiful art deco building, with lots of interesting architecture.
Plus you get a great view of the Chrysler building thrown in for free
P.S. It's so long since I was in NYC, that I managed to go up one of the twin towers :0
edited for spilling.

Superb pizza at Lombardi's in Little Italy.
No doubt people will say there are better places but this place has been consistently excellent over the 25 year span I've been going there.
Corner of Mott and Spring
32 Spring St
New York, NY
Definitely worth queuing for plus there's loads of nice bars in the area.

A bit of hassle to get to from the city, and not exactly great if you choose to take the bus from port authority instead of driving, but it is well worth the journey.
Not officially an outlet store as such, but Century 21 downtown (right by the hilton millennium/ WTC) can unearth some decent deals, but it can be very hit and miss. It is also usually totally rammed and a mess!
