Emirate Skywards - Upgrading Someone Else - Quick Question..

Hello All.

Despite having thought I'd seen this somewhere on the Emirates site, I cannot for the life of me find the answer now...

So, is it allowable that I use my points to upgrade someone I am travelling with from Economy to Business?

If so, do they need to have a skywards account themself?

Yes I did it in the lounge at Dubai last October - I was already in business and my wife in economy - used my points to upgrade her.

Otherwise give the customer service people a call - they are very helpful

It's technically different (as I found out) to upgrading someone else. What you need to do is transfer any miles from your Skywards account to theirs (they need an account), then they use those miles to upgrade.

I had to do this direct with the Emirates customer services desk since I was at AKL airport and upgrading a passenger that was leaving in 2 hours, and they managed it fine.

No need for the pax to have a skywards account, I have done this so many times over the last 3 years that I've lost count and none of the people I have upgraded have ever had skywards.

Easiest way to do it is by phone.
