I got a job to Great Yarmouth this morning and was able to be in Lowestoft for 0710...
Several things make this special.
1. This is the most easterly point in Great Britain.
2. I've now done all four of the extremes in the UK (Dunnet Head, Ardnamurchan Point, Lowestoft and Lizard Point)
3. I was the first person in the UK to see the sun rise this morning

3 out of 4 here & I'd like a road trip one day to the Highlands to tick the 4th off. DD
Ardnamurchan is ~20 miles further west than Land's End.Never heard of Land's End being called that but well done sir!

People in places like Dover or Folkestone or Deal even Margate etc all had sunrise before Lowestoft. .
How far north is important.

Looks like I have another to tick off. Next time I get a job to le Chunnel, I'll go the extra miles.
Do you know the points where the sun rises first and sets last? I'll do some Googling and try to find out, but if anyone knows, please post the answer.

I can see a challenge for 20/21 Jun 2015...
Leave Land's End at sunrise (0513) to arrive at Sheigra before 2230. Sheigra is accessible by road (Cape Wrath is only accessible by ferry). Wait until sunset (2230) and leave Sheigra and drive to Duncansby Head to see the sun rise at 0405.
TomTom estimates the Land's End to Sheigra leg to be 14:04 and the Sheigra to Duncansby Head leg to be 3:22.
