Hi all,

I'm going to Bratislava for a a friends 40th birthday, along with a couple of friends. None of us know much about the place, does anyone have any recommendations for sightseeing, or know any good places to eat and drink?

I think the idea is that we will do a bit of sightseeing during the day, then get a nice meal and check out a few bars.

Also, if anyone can advise decent areas to stay (I've been told to find somewhere near the old town), then that would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Raddison Blu Carlton hotel, right by the american embassy, in the centre, by old town.

Just beware that endless stag dos etc have pretty much got every single local in town fed up with the english...

yeah, I'm a bit worried about this. I was looking at various tripadvisor reports, and loads of posts were just going on about how the English trash the place. I'm hoping that the fact that there is only 4 of us and we are old and boring will count in our favour.

Apologies for bumping my own thread, but a work colleague recommended the Crowne Plaza Bratislava, is this in a good location?

Marrol's is easily the best hotel in town.

Nice place just a bit small. Boat trip down to Vienna is a good shout.

Crowne Plaza is quite a way out, from the center, Devin is not, right on the banks of the river, and literally a 5 minute walk to the bars / restaurants.
