Your "shift" key appears to be broken. It's the one that turns little letters in to big letters like wot they should be at the beginning of a new sentence. Pleb.
if its pisses you off then great.

wot....
So now that your sensationalist claims about the passport office have largely evaporated, you resort to simple trolling?
Epic. Thanks for dropping by.

Sent an email to the passport office earlier asking what their opening times were over the Christmas and New Year period.

They replied telling me that i am not able to make an appointment via email.

?

Idiots.

When you say "proof" does that include "my mate down the pub who spouts this twaddle"? hehe
the media have written about it.

Crossflow. you need to get a life and grow up if you think this is lies.
You'll be able to post links to trustworthy sources to back up your claims that "most" people working in the passport office take regular bribes, will you?

A Google search for "passport office" bribes set to UK results only, has this thread as the 7th result. I think that says it all...

Is this the same Passport office that renewed 2 passports for my children last week. This was a 5 day turn-around including mailing...

At what point do you stop blaming the passport office, and start thinking that *you* might be the problem?

I got my last one in Malta. Much easier than doing it here.

how long ago??? about 18 months ago they changed the whole process, not sure when in Europe, but in asia it has to go back to the UK via Hong Kong and takes between 4 and 6 weeks ..... which can put you in a proper tight spot with visa requirements / check in's renewals etc when living out here!

it also costs near on GBP400 once you pay a few DHL charges as well .....

yet my scandi and southern Mediterranean colleagues just walk into their embassy and get a new passport there and then ....

and what;s the value of a blank passprot from one of those nations on the 'open' market ?

it would not suprise me if it wasn;t considerably lower , reflecting therelative loack fo demand compared to UK or US ones.

2006. May well be more difficult now but perhaps Commonwealth countries are better?

I wouldn't have been nearly as pissed off if the guy had given a proper explanation first time. Just sending my wife home with a "GP isn't good enough" was not the way to resolve the issue IMO

Went up on Tuesday with a fresh form and new counter signature. The woman we saw was 1000x more helpful than the last guy. Explained the original GP problem and how/why they have changed the rules.

New passport arrived today (2 days into the 5 day turn around). smile

Renewed mine online the other day under the standard service estimated as 3 weeks turnaround. Sent it Monday afternoon, came back Thursday the same week! Seems pretty damn good to me!

Applied online for my wife's and sent it all off Dec 3rd,the new passport arrived today 10th Dec,good service.
The only thing that concerned me was the way it was delivered.A strange guy,not Royal mail,no other uniform or ID delivered it and it was not signed for.He obviously had been to (or came from?)another address. The envelope had passport written all over it,not a very secure situation.

This is odd? today (11th) the OLD passport was returned to us via SECURE mail.

all done through the UK now

Consulate in Düsseldorf used to do them all for Germany and Middle East (and maybe further afield) but it all has to go back to the UK now

my kids all got their passports within a couple of days from the consulate, renewals took about 3 months this summer, including them writing to me to tell me my kids, Niccolo and Pipkin, or some other such made-up names, need more documents (it was some other fella's application sent to me)

AND I bet they don't get any security vetting?? so passports are delivered by Tom Dick or Harry part timers etc.
