I know i need some more travel gadgets, although i don't know exactly what they are yet so i am going to ask for your advice.

I've just been reading the torch thread which sadly i got sucked into and found fascinating.

So now i know i need a new torch there must be other things i need to buy to compliment my next purchase.

What useful/helpful/interesting/must have travel gadgets have you got/used ?

Don't care what it is - knives/adapters/clothes/sewing kits/cameras/hats/electronics/sleeping bags/etc,etc,etc !!

Anything goes - remember - Christmas is coming !!

I know this is a bit boring but I really rate the Skross travel adaptor in black. It has two USB plugs on it so you can charge the lap top, phone and ipad all at the same time...
They seem to do all sorts of models but I got mine on a BA flight.

A USB power bank. Invaluable for camping/travelling.

Yup, one of these. A nice big 12000MaH jobbie. Have a look at the Skross USB thingy, and see what A it puts out on the USB, as my Anker battery doesnt charge properly on a 1A USB plug. Ipad plugs are better than iPhone ones.

You have backpackers that stay in the dirtiest/cheapest accomodation possible to save some cash (more beer) but when you become a bit older and don't do the cheapest/nastiest places anymore and stay in hotels/motels, you've become a flashpacker !!

Still on the move, travelling for weeks/months but staying in slightly higher grade accomodation as you don't put up with all the stuff you did when you were a yoof.

Older, richer, cleaner than backpackers.

Won't be doing private jets and 5-star hotels but also won't be staying in the cheapest possible hostel and travelling 12 hours on a tiny bus just to save a few quid over a train or plane.

An excellent reminder, thank you ! Been caught out a couple of times with flat batteries when my hotel receipt is only on my phone/notepad.

Jus seen some solar powered/dust proof/waterproof ones - any experiences or recommendations ?

Sounds like a fine plan!

Just bought one of these Hahnel universal chargers. When we travel we normally have about 3 different cameras each with their own battery charger. This device should get around carrying all the chargers.

A small thing, but I have an adapter for using your own headphones with a planes audio/ entertainment system.

Never travel without my leatherman multi tool in the luggage somewhere.
I have one of those USB power banks but don't tend to use all that often. I guess it's saved for camping.
I also always tend to bright my old maglite. Habit.

As K commented it is very much easier.
The load is taken by all four wheels ...so it just glides along side you...
You can pull it in the conventional way too...
Somehow it frees up a hand so you can for instance carry a coffee... Not sure how that works..
The mrs likes hers as she can hang her hand bag on it.
