Have I made a huge mistake? Only just remembered about my awful holiday to skopelos which was over run with wasps as in six or more flying around my feet when at the beach.
I can handle the same kind of amount we get in the UK although they do make me run like a little girl, should I be worried??

Any advice (apart from mtfu) greatly appreciated.

Some form of deet-based insect repellent.
You get wasps everywhere in summer, especially when trying to eat. Take a table tennis bat.

Best is Bushmans from OZ and a battery powered swatter, they make such a satisfying FIZZ when you get one!

Haha may have to get one of those.
I dont mind the odd one anymore as there were that many on skopelos that it was like shock therapy so as long as its roughly like the uk I'll be fine. But skopelos was you get out of the car and theres immediately six or seven around your ankles.

You think you have a problem.. I have to carry an 'epipen' with me in summer as a wasp sting could kill me (Anaphylaxis).

I moved to NW Scotland, not Greece! wink

If its like over here, June should be fine. Wasps spend the main part of Summer building nests, killing insects, you hardly see them, it's later on when their young have hatched and they go looking for sweet things to feed them (normally fruit) that they become a pain.

Don't recall any such issues when we were there.

Have to say potentially there was a very very local wasp nest - have seen that before where a wasp nest was under the kiddies slide wasps everywhere round the pool and balconies.

If you mean in skopelos yes we did have our very own wasps nest, but unfortunately this did not make a blind bit of difference as they were everywhere. At the beach you would have them around your ankles (even the mrs who just laughs normally when i run off squeeling) wouldnt go back on the beach. When eating they would be all over you trying to land on the food, the waiters would put burning coffee on the tables to little effect.

Strangely the only place unaffected was the main skopelos town and when i say unaffected it was about the same as alton towers in the summer.

I know i sound like a crazed loon and your thinking it cant of been that bad so i will just point out the following. As said i am terrified of them, but when i saw the wasps nest in the balcony of the second bedroom and spoke to the rep about it the answer was that they can remove but will make no difference as there will be plenty more nearby. I agreed with this despite my fear and just left it there.

So you had a wasp nest in the balcony and thought with a reps advice (wasn't aware they were qualified Pest control ?) you took it at face vale...

If there were "lots of nests" then that's the job of pest control to remove then.

Not sure how if im not explaining it well or your not understanding it well.

We had our own wasps nest

The whole island (apart from one town) was over run with wasps

The removal of our private wasps nest would not of made any difference as each villa , cliff , vine and dangly bit had its very own wasps nest.

I hate wasps.

Same here, been there twice in summer.

The first trip there quite a few mosquito (had just been quite rainy).

We used Jungle spray.
