Why do you (the op) keep saying you're not saying any more, then keep coming back to say a bit more? hehe

I only just read that post, and I felt it needed to be answered,so as not to be taken out of context.
Now we can move on.
Happy new year all :-)

The flying stock is more like 20-25 if you fly with BA, which goes some way to explain why I never get anywhere on time with them. Emirates brilliant (who are forking out $99bn...really for new A380s and 777s) but of course bankrolled by the Arabs as are Qatar and Etihad but we could discuss these merits all day long. And Virgin aren't in profit, but generally I like.

But the comments on this topic are pretty childish - no I lie - pathetic ALL ROUND gentlemen!! rolleyes

Let me see if I understand this - you are in Upper Class - with a full length reclining seat - hot and cold stewardesses attending to your every reasonable need - and yet you are ranting that they have the audacity to keep you waiting while they ensure the aircraft is fit to fly.

Did you tell them who you were?

Jeez. Who would want to work with the public?
This all day.

They say money doesn't buy class. In the OP's case I'd add intelegence to that quote.
laugh got to agree with these two.

A Boeing 747 costs ~$368 million.
A Airbus A380 is ~£410 million.

That is a lot of flights, over many years to recoup that outlay. No wonder the stock is 15-20 years old, that is before fuel, staff etc.

Those are list prices. Airlines (especially large ones) don't pay anywhere near that price for aircraft. Many also finance their fleet rather than buy outright.

I flew with BA to Orlando about a month ago. It was a 777 and was like new inside, in economy and was excellent, no problems at all.

How many airlines have some sort of leasing arrangement as opposed to buying outright?
