Anyone been to Belize?

Tikal was insane. But it was 20 years ago that I was there - you could just climb about on it. Don't go to Salvador. Loved Belize - San Ignacio - home to the one traffic light in the entire country. Built by the British army apparently. Jesus. I've got to get back there. I bought a 'bag' of weed on the coast somewhere, Guatemala I think, that turned out to be a bag, and actual carrier bag! No rizla though. Had to roll up the inner packaging of cig packets. Love to go back there as a grown, rational adult and just sit and do nothing. The flowers of Guatemala.

I'm just leaving Ambergris to go to Caye Caulker, then probably go inland to some of the places mentioned so would appreciate any info if you are ahead of me !
My 2 weeks went like this:
Started off by staying a few nights about 20mins east of San Ignacio at a place called Lower Dover. Whilst here we did cave tubing on the first day which was good fun, and then the ATM cave tour the next day. This was amazing and really interesting. Voted #1 sacred cave in the World apparently.
After this we got a bus to the border and popped over into Guatemala, where we then got a taxi to Tikal. The first day we just wondered around by ourselves. It's a pretty spectacular site with loads to see. The next day we got up at 4am for a Sunrise tour with a guide called Roxy. See took us around the whole site and certainly knew her stuff, it was good to learn the history about the place. The downsides were that there was no sunrise due to being overcast (which is quite common apparently), and the tour dragged on a bit towards the end. Didn't finish until about 9am.
That same day we got a taxi back to the border and then a bus all the way to Belize City, from where we got a water taxi to San Pedro. Quite enjoyed my time here, it had a bit of nightlife, lots of places to buy souvenirs, and a few nice restaurants - I'd recommend Blue Water (I think that's what it was called). From here we did a snorkelling trip to Hol Chan marine reserve and Shark Ray Alley. Swam with turtles, puffer fish, loads of sharks, loads of huge rays and many more. It was good, but I prefer to snorkel on my own from the shore (if there's a reef). The bits of reef that I saw didn't really live up to my expectations, but then again the best reef can probably be found on other tours to other areas.
After that we went to Caye Caulker for the last few days of the trip. I loved it there...very relaxing. Stayed in a nice private apartment called Three Little Birds which was really nice. They gave us free bikes so cycled everywhere which was handy. All we did here was relax, swim, chill out by the Split, look for crocodiles, outdoor cinema, and a pub quiz. I'd definitely recommend caye caulker to anyone visiting belize. If I remember when I'm home I'll post up some pics.
