The Virgin flights to San Francisco all have Upper class upstairs at the front and about 8 rows of economy upstairs too. A much better place to sit - fast service, quiet and you get off the plane first with the Upper class people, which means you get to customs first which can be a BIG bonus at SFO. Also the window seat has a large shelf which you can put all your stuff on and gives you considerably more room. However, the front row, whilst has loads of legroom as there's nothing in front, often has no entertainment and no window.

They used to release the upper deck economy at 7am the day before the flight, not before. I've flown upstairs for the last few years. However, I know Virgin have changed their policies now so not sure when they will be made available. Only once, when the flight was not full, they didn't open the upper deck, I assume for weight balance.
Just reviewing the thread before I go and came across this. I haven't been able to get an upgrade with my Virgin miles, so opted to book upstairs economy seats on the way out and a row of two seats at the back for the return flight.

Nice one! It definitely makes the 11 hour flight a bit more bearable. Hope you have a great holiday - it's warming up again in the Bay area for this weekend and sunny for the next 10 days...

Just booked our return flights to Vegas for next year and managed to book upstairs economy seats, so that is a good start. Car hire and hotels all booked too, just days to fill now...

Filling the days will be the easy bit I'm sure!

I'm flying on Monday, so I'll update the thread when I get back. Just the small matter of a wedding this afternoon to get out of the way first!
