When you entered into costs rica did they give you an automatic 90 day visa or did you have to ask for that length?

Im in Montezuma for a month on a final yoga teacher training course.

I got an automatic 90 days entering by land. If you're entering Costa Rica by air they might be more stringent on the "where is your flight out of here?". Might be easier (?!) landing in Nicaragua or Panama and bussing in or arranging a little flight from San Jose to Managua to satisfy that requirement.

I do already have a return flight booked out of Costa Rica on the 1st of june but hope they will then give me a 90 day visa. I then will skip the flight and start travelling up from the end of May. If they don't I will just do a border hop to get the visa
