Hi All.

Last year I drove my wife and 1 yr old son to the Loire Valley Region. Are there any other pleasant regions worth visiting within a similar kind of driving radius?

Recommendations most welcome.

Normandy - the D-Day beaches & museum, Deauville, Honfleur, Rouen cathedral, Falaise (William the Conqueror's original castle - there's another in Caen), Chateau de Crevecoeur (medieval recreation), Suisse Normande countryside, cheese (Camembert, Livarot, Pont-l'Eveque), cider, pommeau & calvados.

About 3 hours from Calais.

Could be Le Havre or Calais.

From Le Havre you could go to Brittany and from Calais you could go towards Ardennes, Luxembourg, Strasbourg and Alsace.

Vendee? Spent many a childhood summer there and enjoyed it. Not too bad a drive really either - could take the ferry from Portsmouth to St Malo to cut off a fair chunk of drive south.

St Malo is nice. Normandy en route is interesting & emotional. We like St Martin de Re on the Isle de Re
