I get the impression Limassol is getting back on it's feet with Russian money (whether a British tourist would consider that a good thing or not is another matter).

Although Protaras sounds nicer, both hotel choices are out of town so I think we plumb for the best hotel and the winner has to be the St Raphael.

The final question - May or June? I read that June can get unbearably hot which would be an issue with 2 young children. On the other hand my wife is worried May will be iffy.
We got married on the 19th May, I think we flew out on the 12th or so and came back a couple of weeks later - the weather was glorious throughout, mid to high 20s, nice dry heat.

We rented a little Suzuki Vitara with a bit of canvas on some press studs. Perfect car for the island! Not fast and would be rubbish anywhere else in the world, but on Cyprus. Perfect. Even got to play with low range down on Lara bay.

To be fair I am sure the Turkish Cypriots would say the same. Neither side has a monopoly on that carrot!
Just that one side were on home soil , their own country , defending their homes against an invading force.

Oh well that makes genocide perfectly OK then! And small news flash: They were on their own soil! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maratha,_Santalaris_a...

When I got married, we went right at the beginning of July and it was lovely and warm. Proper hot by the second week.

I went to Limassol in May and it was predominantly sunny, although the pool was cold and we had cloud quite regularly. It even rained one afternoon.

When I go again, it'll be in June.
