Recently booked an apartment with the above website, just a heads up to watch out for the booking fee which is not actually mentioned until you have entered your credit card details (its not a credit card fee), I got stung for just under 12% which is extortionate, when I spoke to them about it I was told its anything between 5% and 15% and its in the small print so tough.

I searched for an apartment that was available and I liked then booked my flights then the apartment so not much choice but to pay.

I spotted this, found it irksome, and was able to get round it by searching for the accomodation name online and booking directly via the owner. Won't be possible for all places but give it a try.

These kind of websites actually make the holiday letting owners change the name they list with on these sites to stop exactly the above. Crazy.

This is (not) new as I never paid it (I did) when I booked last year - edit to say I just checked and I did pay an 11 Euro fee and never even noticed in the sleight of hand conversion from Euros to pounds.
However, under the "Book It Now" button, it does say "plus 30 Euros in extra fees" on the one I previously booked.

As you say, that's totally unacceptable as it gives a false impression as to affordability so I will now stick with www.ownersdirect.co.uk or www.clickstay.com (formerly Villarenters).

However, you DO have to consider, not the principle, but the overall cost. it might still be cheaper on this site than a similar villa on another website.

Have since found out that if the owners pay an extra fee, about a £1000 I have been told, holidaylettings waive the booking fee which seems like a win/win for them.
