I'm going to Bristol this weekend for my Anniversary staying near the harbour and Queen square.

We are only staying the sat night but will be in Bristol mid morning on the Sat.

Has any one got any recommendations for things to see and do during the day and places to eat for dinner ?

Not to fussed on what type of food. Gastro pub or restaurant.

Thanks

Food/Drink : I'd suggest wandering up Park Street towards the university. This has quite a few restaurants/bars (from a Wetherspoons to a Jamie Oliver restaurant) so you'll find something which meets your budget/expectations.

Culture : There's a Banksy Mural partway up the hill, and a free museum/art gallery at the top. It's worth visiting the Clifton suspension bridge for the views but it's a trek from the centre! Alternatively, a wander around the harbourside is always interesting.

Nightlife : Around the harbour there are plenty of bars/restaurants and a number of 'titty' bars if you and the missus want to experiment wink

In my opinion the best pubs are around Queens square/Harbour area, the Apple cider boat ( LINKY) particularly worth trying smile

Went last August for a weekend. Took the little un to the Zoo on the Saturday morning/early afternoon then walked around Clifton and over the suspension bridge. Was pleasantly impressed with Clifton, so the above reply gets my vote!

Best restaurants:

Riverstation (near you)
Bordeux Quay (despite busy location is fantastic value)
Prego (excellent unfussy Italian kitchen)
Wilks (michelin star)
Casamia (michelin star)
Bells Diner (bohemian area, gastro experience)

A walk around Clifton of an evening is lovely and away from the yobby centre.

Bravado or Flinty Red for Tapas as other options. Somerset House in Clifton Village is a stunningly good gastropub. Coronation Tap in the Village too for a cheeky cider or three

Walk around harbourside, pop into Mshed or Arnofini, mini pub crawl to the grain barge, pump house, the cottage. Or take a ferry or two

Graffiti tours are popular

Lots of good recommendations above. I'd add:

- SS Great Britain if you're interested in that sort of thing.
- Loads of good pubs on Kings Street near Queens Square.
- A great view from Cabot Tower in Brandon Park, if you can be arsed with the stairs up!
- If you only visit Bristol once, the suspension bridge is a must. if the weather's nice, have a drink in the Avon Gorge Hotel bar. It's called the White Lion and they have an excellent view of the bridge and gorge.

How was your weekend in Bristol? Am looking for any recommendations of places to eat and also things to do during the day / evening so thought I would bump this thread rather than start a new one.
