Evening all, as above, we are looking for a high-quality property for a holiday in the UK with our very well-behaved dog. Ideally it would be on, or overlooking, the sea, and within walking distance of a good pub. Self-catering would be good, but we'd consider a hotel, although from experience having the dog sleep in the same room as us is not the most relaxing option!

I've found several websites with this type of property but almost everything is fully-booked. We'd like to go immediately before the school hols, but would go during for the right property without too much school holiday tax applied.

Prefer the SW or Wales but anywhere considered. Just putting this up in case anyone knows of anything, or perhaps even owns something suitable.

TIA.

No idea it it's available, but we took our hound to Putsborough Manor Cottage in Devon in January http://www.putsboroughmanorcottages.co.uk

Very nice spot, about 15 min walk to the beach. there are dog friendly pubs in the area too.

How important is coastal?

The Peak District has plenty of very good dog friendly cottages available but is about as far from the sea as you can get!

Just asking because we take a couple of ours away each year and it’s a wonderful break ... walking and dog-friendly pubs are not an issue!

Agree with you on the hotel thing - it’s great to find somewhere to stay for a night with the dog(s) but if you want more than one night it gets very wearing very quickly compared to a cottage or similar.

Cornish tradition cottages have plenty. Or search for Trebarwith strand cottage as there is a good pub there.

Thanks again. Re the sea, well, it's just a thing I have, I love to be by the sea and would love to live there one day, so a holiday property where I wake up looking out over the sea and can sit there with a glass of something watching the sun go down is my own personal version of heaven!

Some nice cottages recommended above!

We recently stayed here in Pembrokeshire and loved it - some great walks nearby at Strumble Head too.

What can Say, I am currently sitting in a cottage in Boscastle watching the sun go down over the harbour. Beer in hand.

This is what you want

High end self catered cottages galore. They have a ton of dog friendly places and also have quite a few lighthouse cottages.

We rented a great cottage through them a few years ago down in Cornwall which was dog friendly.

Not sure what the definition of high end is but my place in the highlands is newly refurbished and gets nice genuine reviews accepts pets and you can walk them silly on the beach in front of the place or let them play on the three acres you get with the place for the week.
