Off to Belfast for a couple of days.
Taking car so can travel around a bit.
Any suggestions of places to visit, things to do, must see sights?

No hotels booked so very flexible with what we do and where we stay.

Quite a bit in Belfast, Titanic exhibition is good, plus the drawing office, slipways, graving docks, HMS Caroline etc.
Taxi tour of the murals on a Sunday morning is also good trip.
Quite a few nice restaurants in city center

I stayed in the Malmaison a couple of years ago and the lady on reception sorted me out with a tour of the 'Troubles' in a black taxi. Probably learnt more in that two hours than I would have reading a thousand books. I think we only paid about £25 for both of us.

Definitely worth the money smile

The Merchant is by far the best hotel in Belfast and has actually won best hotel in the UK a number of times, it is located in what is known as the cathedral quarter which is where most of the best restaurants and bars in Belfast are located. In terms of things to do Victoria Square is the best shopping in Belfast and is in walking distance of the Merchant hotel, you can also catch the "big red" bus type tours from here which will take you round all the sites to see in Belfast.

If you have a car you will be able to travel anywhere in Northern Ireland within a couple of hours, if you are into Game of Thrones quite a lot of it was filmed along the North coast which also has a very nice coast road drive which is sign posted from the M2 motorway. The lakes to the west (towards Enniskillen) are also very nice and have some very interesting caves which are some of the best in Europe apparently.

The usual tourist stuff is giants causeway, Bushmills distillery and Titanic exhibition. Can't think of anything else at the moment

The North Coast is 45 minutes from Belfast and it's worth a visit, the Causeway, Bushmills Distillery and any beach you care to visit. I know a PHer who runs accommodation in the area too if you fancy a recommendation for somewhere to stay and eat.

Thanks for the suggestions smile

Think we are going to Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge as well.
Might need some brave pills for that though.

Been told a good pint is served at the harbour in Portrush so will head there as well smile

If you are up that direction head to Ballycastle for some fish and chips, can't recall the name of the place but it the only one along the harbour. Best fish and chips you will ever have.

The Harbours okay but Portrush is overrated. CAR is okay but it's really not that scary, promise wink

The whole North Coast is pretty awesome to be honest but I might be a bit biased!

No doubt you will be able to draw your own conclusions, but I've worked in and travelled to some of the most wrteched third world places and I can safely say that Portrush is a rival for any of them.

As said Portrush is a dump and should be avoided at all costs

The Mournes are stunning, well worth a drive if you have time. Or go north to the Antrim Coast. There are a few scenic drive guides that cover these.

If you are heading to Lough Neagh and like used collectibles, there's an interesting showroom near Glenavy called Hollybrook Sports Cars.

Titanic is very good. There is also a prison in the centre called Crumlin Gaol, that is very interesting and definitely worth a visit.

Nonsense. OP, Portrush Harbour is a lovely place to be, definitely worth a visit and indeed you will get an outstanding pint of Guinness in the Harbour Bar. Also the short drive along the coast to Portstewart is worth doing as is the drive out along the coast the other way to Dunluce Castle. Hope you enjoy your trip and hope you get good weather, the North Coast is absolutely stunning in the sunshine.

Whilst a lot of the North coast is stunning I am afraid you are kidding yourself if you think that Portrush can be included in this, it is at best a run down poorly maintained seaside town that has been without investment for many years. I remember going there on days trips 20 years ago and it has barely changed in this time in fact has grown worse over the years.

It is without doubt one of the most depressing and rundown places I have ever been, and bearing in mind I have been to some of the worst slums in Mumbai that is pretty bad.
