Decent overnight stop somewhere in central/east Germany?

I'm driving to Poland in May and whilst I've done it before in one go, I'll be in no particular rush this time so quite fancy breaking it up with an overnight stop.

Was thinking somewhere around Berlin/Dresden? I'm imagining a nice evening stroll, some good German grub, a few pints, decent hotel and then something to go see the next morning before continuing on. A motoring related museum perhaps!?

So if anyone knows of any marvels, do tell! I do appreciate this isn't the most touristy end of Germany...

Are you into watches?

Glashutte is close to Dresden and is basically the hub of the German watch making industry.

I'd personally love to visit there. It's meant to be a lovely area.

If I can't find anything else I think I'll tie in a stop over at Dresden with a visit to Glashutte in the morning

Awesome - if you go to GO, tell them you have a mate that has had a PanoMaticLunar for years and even though he has a number of other great watches, that one just shines above the rest due to the perfection of design and he can't stop looking at it when he's wearing it.
