Looking to go and stay in a Eurocamp near Venice in late June for a week or so as the wife has got a new job and our original plan to do the west coast of the States is not feasible in the amount of time she will be able to take off (2 weeks). There will be the two of us and our 1 year old. We're going to drive and break the journey up along the way with a couple of overnight stops on the way there and on the way back.

I'm leaving from South Wales and intend getting the Dover - Calais ferry, going through Luxembourg (cheap fuel!), stopping overnight in Trier, Germany.

Next day, we're going to Rust in Southern Germany for an overnight stop and will break up the journey via either the Porsche Museum or the Mercedes Museum (opinions on which is better to kill a few hours?). From Rust, via Switzerland, we're going to head to the Eurocamp site we've chosen just outside of Venice on the Adriatic coast(www.gardenparadiso.it).

Now, on the return leg, we're going to spend a night in either Lake Garda or Lake Como but after that, I'm stuck as to what route to head home via.

Potentially, we may have a 2 night stop in Euro Disney although we're still undecided about that - has anyone got any suggestions for places to stop on the way back?

As much as I'd like to do the trip in a GT, I'll be doing it in a diesel estate (F11 520d). With a roofbox. biggrin

Only advice and experience I can offer is on the 2 Stuttgart museums you mentioned visiting.

The Merc one is much bigger and on multiple floors, you could spend more than 1/2 day there.

Porsche is good too,I've been to it 3 times but will take up less of your time.

Last year (in the motorhome) we left Lake Garda and headed west, through the Mt. Blanc tunnel and towards the Dura region of France (Eurocamp operate on Lac de Chalain - La Pergola), stayed there a few days, then slowly headed north, but you can get to the channel in a day from there.
Some lovely roads as you approach the tunnel and some even better ones on the Geneva side.
