I'm renewing my passport and we need a new one for our daughter (22 months), I've done the application on-line, just need to get photos, signatures and documents together so should get it all in the post on Monday. It says 6 weeks for new adult passports, 3 weeks for everything else. Does that include new child passports?

Reason I'm asking it we're hoping to get away for the first two weeks of June, just hoping I haven't left it too late? Won't book anything until we have the passports in our hands.

We were quoted 3 weeks for our daughters renewal, it was back within a week.

I imagine you'll be fine if you get them in PDQ!

My lad got his in 1 week, and that included reporting his old one stolen.

You can renew 9 months ahead of expiry. Why leave it till 3 weeks before you need to use it? Or do some people never have a clear 8 week stretch where they're not abroad?

We haven't intentionally left it until the last minute. We really weren't sure whether we'd go abroad this year or not but have now decided to do if it's feasible (i.e. we can get passports), and as it turns out the ideal time for us is the start of June. Also I was awaiting the results of a biopsy for cancer which only happened recently, certainly wouldn't be going on holiday if I'd be having chemo, luckily got the all clear though.

If they arrive in time then we'll book out fortnight in the sun, if not something in the UK and hope for better luck next time.

Besides which I'm not going to tentatively spend £120 on passports if we're not going to use them.

Quite an apt user name considering the results of your biopsy - great news on getting the all clear!

Went to London and submitted ours for the newborn. This was last summer when we had the whole delays fiasco.

Arrived 2 days later!

Did my Daughter's renewal online last week, had the photo countersigned at the weekend and posted it Special Delivery on Monday. The old passport has been delivered back to us today and I got a text this morning also saying the new passport was being printed. So I expect it to be delivered early next week (but there is a bank holiday on Monday).

Update: The passport arrived yesterday it took 8 days from posting it to getting it back (including a bank holiday).
