Sorry for the thread hi-jack but I didn't see the need to have yet another NYC thread like we do with Las Vegas. I see you're all recommending the ICTS hotel, looks nice but I don't really need anything that fancy as I have a fair amount planned for my trip and really just need somewhere half decent to sleep. I'm currently looking at The Wellington as they have a few discounts at the moment, any other recommended hotels or does everyone on PH stay at the ICTS? hehe
I went to NYC for a week last year and stayed at The Jane. It's quirky, different, well priced and in a cracking area of NYC (MeatPacking District) with excellent shops, bars, restaurants nearby. Chelsea Market is about 10mins walk (with excellent restaurants inside) and the start of the HighLiine is just round the corner.

If that doesn't take your fancy, I'd recommend staying the MeatPacking District anyway, as it's much quieter and an excellent place to unwind after a long day in the city.

I had the pancakes at Evergreen diner too. They weren't bad. Didn't seem very clean in there? I was surprised that it got amazin reviews.
I thought it was cleaner than Katz Deli! Simple, no frills American Diner

Thanks for the suggestions guys I will check them out! I'm going the second week of March and I think I'll add that Evergreen diner to the list as I love pancakes!

I've also stayed there a few times, years ago though. It's dated, a bit worn, but OK to crash in and well located.

another recommendation for meatpacking district! I stayed for a week at 'Dream Downtown', was awesome in summer as it had a rooftop pool and rooftop bar/nightclub. it had a very busy bar/nightclub area on fri/saturday nights which was quite amusing when you come back at 9pm in shorts/tshirt carrying a backpack having been out all day to see queues of people all dressed up ready for a night out and you stroll straight past them and into your hotel!

but the meatpacking/ chelsea area is really nice. lots of options for food and drinks and people watching at night.

and the spotted pig was cool!
